A core built around your Workday needs
We build the core around the Workday responsibilities your organization needs covered, with the mix of functional and technical depth determined by the work itself.
Dedicated HRIS Pod
A Dedicated HRIS Pod gives you a consistent Workday team across the areas you need covered now, with broader Sequoia depth behind it. You get meaningful coverage without having to settle your permanent team structure first.
What makes it a pod
A consistent core team
A consistent group that builds familiarity with your tenant, processes, priorities, and history over time.
With broader support behind it
When work reaches beyond the core team’s experience, pod members work with colleagues elsewhere in Sequoia to bring in the knowledge the problem requires.
Specialist depth when needed
When a need falls outside the core team’s regular depth, additional Sequoia specialists join the work where their knowledge is useful.
The origin
A children’s healthcare organization came to us with multiple consultants allocated at forty hours a week each. Rather than assume those allocations were right, we asked about the work itself and the coverage it required.
Our recommendation was simple: reduce one forty hour allocation to twenty hours and use the remaining budget to broaden the team’s functional coverage.
That is where the pod model took shape. Instead of concentrating the budget in a few forty hour allocations, we spread the available capacity across more of the client’s Workday needs and built a coordinated group around that work.
What mattered most to the client was direct access to a consistent group of people who understood their environment and the work they were responsible for.
That need shaped the pod model from the beginning.
The model
01
We build the core around the Workday responsibilities your organization needs covered, with the mix of functional and technical depth determined by the work itself.
02
The dedicated core stays connected to colleagues across Sequoia, bringing in additional functional or technical knowledge when the work requires more than the pod regularly covers.
03
When a need reaches beyond the pod’s regular functional or technical depth, we bring in the right Sequoia specialist to work alongside the core group for only as long as that additional depth is needed.
When the permanent team isn’t clear yet
The work that needs coverage today may be clearer than the organization you want to build around it long term. A pod lets those two decisions happen on different timelines.
Recruiting experienced Workday talent takes time, and the role you eventually hire for may not map neatly to every area that needs coverage today. A pod gives you broader Workday depth while the shape of the permanent team becomes clearer.
The pod separates two decisions that do not always need to happen at the same time: how to cover the Workday work now, and how to staff it permanently.
The permanent answer may eventually be a different mix of internal roles, Sequoia support, or both.
Visibility and continuity
Your portal gives you visibility into the work your pod is doing, including the activity, documentation, and engagement history that support it. The goal is to keep the work understandable and traceable even when Sequoia is carrying more of it.
Documentation captures the changes, decisions, and reasoning behind the work as the engagement progresses. That history gives your team a stronger record to rely on when people or responsibilities change.
Built to leave options open
The right long-term team may look different once you have more clarity about workload, functional coverage, and the roles you want to own internally. The pod gives you meaningful coverage while those decisions continue to take shape.
As the long-term answer becomes clearer, the pod does not have to dictate what comes next. We help you move toward the model that fits, including getting out of the way when Sequoia is no longer part of that answer.
A 30-minute conversation helps us understand the Workday work you need covered now, the areas where you need more depth, and how settled your long-term team structure is.
